Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Pick up and Transfer to Masai Mara National Reserve. Evening Game Drive

Somewhere in Nairobi, either at your lodge or the international airport, our driver meets and briefs you about the trip. In our 4X4 safari car they drive you to Masai Mara National Reserve in the southwest of Kenya, specifically Narok. The journey to the reserve leaves you speechless because of the scenic views, regardless of its 230 km distance. So, enjoy pauses for views and capture photos. Also enjoy en route lunch.

Arrive through the Sekenani gate, and head to your lodge for check in. In the late afternoon, head for a game drive in the Sekenani Area. The Big 5, Nubian giraffes, cheetahs, Coke’s hartebeest, wildebeests, Thomson’s gazelles, bat-eared fox, and hippos feature among the large animals. After watching these and even more mammals and birds return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.  

Day 2: Full Day Game Drive

Early in the morning, wake up to take breakfast before you head to see the early risers roaming across the reserve. Seated in the safari car towards the Mara Triangle, watch the Big 5 animals. Also, through the pop up roof, watch spotted hyenas, zebras, hippos, cheetahs and so many species of antelopes. Now, in case this game drive happens between July and October, witness the phenomenal Great Wildebeest Migration. This is an opportunity of a lifetime.

Rest for a while as you enjoy picnic lunch. See the escarpments and the Mara River. Watch more wild animals while you return to your lodge. Discover the lesser sought-after mammals like common elands, crested porcupines, Grant’s gazelles, olive baboons, klipspringers and honey badgers etc. Try to relax at your lodge before the staff serve you delicious dinner. Your overnight is here at the lodge.

Day 3: Maasai Village Experience. Drive to Nairobi. End of Safari

Have morning breakfast and ready yourself for the 230 km return journey back to Nairobi. A Maasai Village outside the reserve needs a visitation and appreciation by you. Check out of your lodge and go there for a unique cultural encounter among the most known tribe in East Africa. On your way out of the reserve see many more animals that include wildebeest etc. feel at home while the local guide ensures you meet and interact with the people.  

Enjoy traditional singing and dancing, which surely entertains. At their Bomas, elders tell exciting things their ancestors or recent great grandparents did to ensure the survival of the tribe. Beyond these, inquire about their bright colored dressing style, their pastoralism lifestyle and relationship to the reserve. Leave the village and continue to Nairobi, with a pause for en route lunch. Arrive in Nairobi and the guide drops you off at Jomo Kenyatta Airport. This 3 days Masai Mara safari has come to an end. Depart Kenya by flight.
