This 10 days Uganda gorillas and Tanzania Migration safari offers a unique experience done in 2 captivating East African destinations. Witness the endangered mountain gorillas, iconic Big 5 and witness the Great Migration in their natural settings. Destinations to explore include Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Serengeti National Park, Tarangire National Park and Ngorongoro Crater Area. The safari starts in Entebbe, Uganda and ends in Kilimanjaro International Airport in Tanzania.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe Airport
Arrive at the Entebbe International Airport in central Uganda and meet our dedicated guide. Briefing about the 10 days Uganda gorillas and Tanzania Migration safari follows. In our safari car, the guide takes you to your booked hotel for dinner and overnight stay. Ensure to get enough rest for the next day’s long journey.
Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi National Park
Wake up in the early morning and take breakfast. After check out, the guide drives you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, southwest Uganda. A 508 km drive with scenic views to your destination has enroute lunch provided. Arrival and check in at your cozy prebooked lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Gorilla Trekking and Relax at the Lodge
Gorilla trekking starts at 8:00 a.m. in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Make sure you wake up earlier for breakfast. Pack some lunch and head to the park headquarters or trailhead. A ranger guide from Bwindi will equip you with all the trekking tips when you attend a brief session here. Commence to look for a habituated gorilla family in the forest with the ranger guide as your leader.
Enjoy a 2-6-hour gorilla trekking tour, with an hour to view the endangered apes, moreover in their natural homes. A return to your lodge offers opportunities for relaxation, birdwatching, as you enjoy the services offered there. Dinner is offered later in the evening before you sleep here for the last night of the trip at Bwindi Forest.
Day 4: Fly to Entebbe Airport. And Connect on another Flight to Kilimanjaro Airport. Overnight in Arusha.
This is day 4 of your 10 Days Uganda Gorillas and Tanzania migration safari. Have breakfast and check out before your departure flight in Kihihi/Kisoro. This takes you to Entebbe International Airport. Lunch is in Entebbe. At the airport, board another flight to Kilimanjaro International Airport in Tanzania. Upon arrival, our other guide meets and greets you. Drive for 53.1 km to your hotel in Arusha for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Drive to Tarangire National Park. Full Day Game Drive
After breakfast check out of your luxury hotel. From Arusha transfer to Tarangire National Park, 109 km southwest. In Tarangire, do a full day game drive. Find baobab trees and large herds of elephants inside the savannah park. Other highlights in Tarangire include predators and herbivores such as impalas, kudus, wildebeests and elands among others. Check in at your new camp and relax. Dinner is served there before your overnight.
Day 6: Transfer to South Serengeti (Ndutu Area). Full Day Game Drive
Enjoy morning breakfast and transfer to Serengeti National Park, which is 190 km in the northwest. Arrive and indulge in a full day game drive, this time in the Ndutu Area, south of the Serengeti National Park. If it is the period between January and March, wildebeest calving occurs here, which offers a wonderful and heartwarming experience. Predators like lions, hyenas, leopards and cheetahs are many in Ndutu. Afterwards, check in at your camp for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7 & 8: Full Day Game Drive in Central Serengeti
Head to the central part of Serengeti for a full day game drive after morning breakfast. This part, especially the Seronera section offers year-round perfect views of wildlife. One reason is the availability of the largest concentrations of big cats throughout Africa. While on a game drive, view hundreds of lions, cheetahs, leopards and others. A picnic lunch is available for you during the game drive. Do not miss the chance to see wildebeests, Thompson’s gazelles and zebras, because they also traverse this place during their migration.
Dinner and overnight stay is at your camp. Return to the central part of Serengeti National Park, but do the game drive on other new game tracks. Very many birds and mammals are available to see even on this second day of your game drive here. Physical features like kopjes, river and grassland or woodland offer lovely scenes for both views and photography. Return to your camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 9: Optional Hot Air Balloon Safari and Drive to Ngorongoro for Half Day Game Drive
This is the ninth day of your 10 days Uganda gorillas and Tanzania Migration safari. After breakfast, prepare for a hot air balloon trip over Serengeti National Park. Head to the balloon launch pad near Seronera. Fly over the Serengeti Plains to get proper views of the Big 5, birds and other wild creatures of Serengeti. Physical features like hills, plains, rivers and swamps are viewable from above. Once you land, enjoy a glass or glasses of champagne in a surreal-like bush breakfast.
Drive to the Ngorongoro Crater Area for a half day game drive in this biodiverse and historically significant place. The iconic Big 5 roam around, always available for exploration. Also, view and capture photos of the scenes such as the kopjes, and other rocky outcrops. Ngorongoro’s crater floor is very beautiful, and shelters plenty of wild animals to see on a game drive. Return to your camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 10: Transfer back to Kilimanjaro Airport. End of safari.
Get something to put in your stomach as morning breakfast before a drive to Kililmanjaro International Airport. This drive, through Arusha covers 214 km from the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, with lunch enroute. Promises of more views of wildlife on the way to the airport. Arrive and board your flight back home. The 10 Days Uganda gorillas and Tanzania migration safari ends here, and we wish you a safe journey.
