Full itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi from Kigali
Your first day of this experience is designated for the journey from Kigali to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda. You will set off immediately after breakfast if picked up from a hotel, or from the airport, and drive straight to the border. Enter Uganda and drive to the park with an en route lunch in Kabale town. Proceed later to the park, covering about 2 hours, arriving shortly before nightfall. Enjoy dinner and rest for the night ahead.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking and departure
The last day is the adventurous one, kicked off with an early breakfast before heading to the park headquarters. It is here that you will receive a briefing after an entertainment from the local women. The rangers then deliver an insightful pre-trekking briefing covering the dos and don’ts of this gorilla trekking activity. It will also entail the required code of conduct when you encounter the primates.
Groups of 8 people will be arranged and allocated a gorilla family and assigned a set of rangers. These rangers will be in charge of your safety and also guide you to the gorillas. Venture into the impenetrable forest to traverse this ancient jungle for a chance to encounter the gorillas. With the help of trackers coordinating with the rangers, you will get to the gorillas. Once in their presence, the trekking hour will begin to count down.
Use this time to immerse yourself in this short but everlasting memory of witnessing the endangered mountain gorillas. Take pictures and videos before your hour finishes, and you head back. Depending on the length of the trek, you will have your packed lunch either in the forest or upon arrival at the park offices. Leave Bwindi and drive back to Kigali. Arrive by evening, marking the end of your 2 days gorilla trek in Bwindi from Kigali.
