Overview
A 10 days Tanzania Northern circuit safari takes you to Tarangire, Lake Manyara and Serengeti National Parks and the Ngorongoro Crater etc. The safari features multiple game drives to see the Big 5 and the Great Migration, with highlights like tree-climbing lions and calving of wildebeests in Ndutu. A part from lions, the Big 5 also includes elephants, rhinos, buffaloes, and leopards. Meanwhile, the Great Migration has millions of wildebeests, zebras and gazelles. This tour package blends beautiful scenery, and day and night wildlife viewing experiences. Start this safari in Arusha and end it at the same place.
Day 1: Pick up from Arusha. Half day Game Drive in Tarangire National Park
On this first day, our guide picks you up from Arusha. From there, drive to Tarangire National Park, situated only 109 km in the northeast. In a half day game drive, see the large herds of elephants and gigantic baobab trees. Tarangire is also home to the Great Migration. A must-see is the members of the Big 5. Other Tarangire animals include impalas, hartebeests, elands and kudus etc. Head to your camp and check in. Dinner is served before you go for sleep.
Day 2: Game Drive in Lake Manyara National Park
Fuel up with early morning breakfast before driving 69 km in the southwestern direction. Today is for a game drive in Lake Manyara National Park. What makes this park unique is the presence of the iconic tree-climbing lions. Impalas, blue monkeys, vervet monkeys, zebras, hippos and giraffes also live here and available for visitors on a game drive. Check in at your prebooked camp and relax. In the evening, have dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Game Drive at Ngorongoro Rim & Ndutu Area
After breakfast go to the Ngorongoro Rim for a chance to do a game drive near the world’s biggest caldera. In a game drive see the Big 5, impalas, zebras, wildebeests, lions, black rhinos and hyenas etc. This is a place where hundreds of flamingos can be seen. Have lunch and head for another game drive in the southern outskirts of Serengeti, in an area called Ndutu. Lakes Masek and Ndutu offer views of aquatic wildlife for you.
From December to April, the Ndutu Area offers views of the return journey of the animals involved in the Great Migration. Predators such as lions, leopards, jackals, cheetahs and hyenas also live in Ndutu. Elephants, giraffes, dik dik, elands, impalas and wildcats thrive in these plains. In addition, calving of the wildebeest happens in Ndutu. Make a return to your camp for delicious dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Game Drive at Ikona Wildlife Management Area
After a delicious morning breakfast, drive to the IKONA Wildlife Management Area for a game drive. In IKONA see a great deal of wild animals: leopards, hartebeests, topis, lesser zebras, giraffes, roan antelopes, wildebeests and warthogs etc. Its location along the path taken by the participants of the Great Migration, is very important for visitors. Witness and learn about what IKONA has done to promote both wildlife conservation and better community livelihoods. Return to your camp for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Game Drive in Northern Serengeti National Park
Early in the morning, get breakfast and drive to the northern part of Serengeti National Park. A scenic journey offers views of various wildlife and gorgeous landscapes. Take photos of kopjes and other hills with savannah grassland and woodland in the backgrounds. Marvelous views of the wildebeests, zebras and gazelles crossing the Mara River is available from July to October. Meanwhile, a game drive across the Lobo area offers views of the Big 5 and many other mammals and birds. A delicious picnic lunch is best for this trip. Later, return back to your camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Game Drive Serengeti National Park
On this sixth day of your 10 days Tanzania Northern circuit safari, have a game drive in central Serengeti National Park. Have breakfast early in the morning before you go there with your packed picnic lunch. Driving across the Seronera area offers views of diverse species of big cats, herbivores and migratory bird species. The landscape is also a highlight, with kopjes and grasslands creating beautiful scenes. After maximizing your wildlife viewing experience, return to your camp for a relaxing experience, dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Night Game Drive in IKONA Wildlife Management Area
After dinner, drive to the IKONA Wildlife Management Area to do a game drive. Your night game drive offers views of the leopards, lions, and bush babies among other nocturnal animals. Return to your camp for overnight stay.
Day 8: Game Drive in Serengeti National Park (Ndutu Area)
After breakfast, pack lunch to eat while in a thrilling game drive back in the Ndutu Plains. Again, if this safari happens from December to April, witness the return journey of the Great Migration. Spot lions, leopards, jackals, cheetahs and hyenas which share the Ndutu habitats. Elephants, giraffes, dik diks, elands, impalas and wildcats thrive in these plains as well. Drive back to your camp for relaxation before dinner. Later, have an overnight at your camp.
Day 9: Game Drive in Ngorongoro Crater
This day is another opportunity to view plenty of wildlife thriving in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. After your breakfast, head to the popular Ngorongoro Crater with your lunch to do a game drive that lasts 6 hours. All the Big 5 members also shelter at the crater area and you can see them in a game drive. Later in the day, return to your camp for a leisurely relaxation. Dinner is offered in the evening to ensure you enjoy an overnight stay at your camp.
Day 10: Transfer to Arusha. End of Safari
After a hearty breakfast in the morning, check out and head to Arusha in the east. The drive from the Loduare Gate of Ngorongoro to Arusha is only 155 km. Meanwhile enjoy scenic views and beautifully organized villages along the way. In Arusha, we drop you off at your accommodation or the airport for your departure flight home.
